Associação de Radioamadores do Alto Minho (ARAM)

ARAM – Associação de Radioamadores do Alto Minho is a non-profit amateur radio association. Located in Vila Fria, Viana do Castelo, Portugal.
It was officially founded on October 26, 1992 by a group of passionate radio amateurs from the Alto Minho region. United by their shared love for radio communication and technical exploration.

Since its foundation, ARAM has grown steadily, guided by the determination and simplicity that characterize the people of northern Portugal. These values have helped the association build a solid foundation. Allowing it not only to preserve its legacy but also to look confidently toward the future.

At ARAM, different generations come together — young enthusiasts and experienced operators — creating an environment where curiosity meets expertise, and where learning and teaching go hand in hand. The association fosters a strong spirit of community, built on mutual respect, collaboration, and friendship.

ARAM’s core mission is to promote, support, and develop amateur radio activities. Encouraging technical education, international communication, emergency preparedness, and personal growth through radio experimentation. The association actively participates in regional and international events, contests, field operations, and outreach initiatives aimed at introducing amateur radio to new generations.

As we look ahead, ARAM remains committed to advancing the amateur radio spirit, embracing new technologies while preserving the values that have guided us for over three decades.
